House-Barrett and House-Jack hiking trip

Tyson and "Hundemama" Dagmar are inviting all the owners of House-Barrett and House Jack dogs for the hiking trip in our beautiful landscape, called the "Odenwald"on Saturday the 30th of June 2007

Due to some changes, which had to be made, we had to update this page again.

Already we would like to thank the families, who are driving from very far away to join us on this trip, like from Austria, Switzerland and Schleswig-Holstein, far up north of Germany

A special thank you to my sister "Rita", who planned this whole trip, if it was not for her, a trip like this could have never happened, because she knows the "Odenwald" by heart

Only two more weeks for this great day to get here!!!!

We will meet in Gross-Rohrheim, Rheinstr. 92 at 6.45 AM

Together we will drive with the cars to Bensheim and then to Reichenbach. In Reichenbach the hiking trip starts. For about 2 miles it will be going uphill. Our first destination will be the so called famous "rock
oceon". It has been known to be there for about 340 Mio years

For the people, who love to climb rocks, they will have a chance to do so. Then we will continue our trip downhill through wood stretches and fields until we arrive at the bottom of the "Melibokus" (this used to be an American side for the Army)

From this point it will go again uphill until we have reached the "Alsbacher Schloss" (Alsbacher castle). The distance from Reichenbach to the Alsbacher Schloss will be appr. 8 miles long. We expect to arrive at the Alsbacher Schloss around noon.

For families, who are not used to walk too many miles up- and downhill, they will have a chance to start their hiking tour at this point. Before we continue with our walk, we will have lunch at this castle

Our 2nd part of the tour will be appr. 7 miles long. We will continue with our tour towards the "Auerbacher castle" around 1 PM. About 1 ½ hours later we will reach our next destination the "Auerbacher Schloss". We will take another break here for coffee and cake. and there will be a guided tour through the castle at 3 PM, for the families who are interested in the history of the castles and palaces in the area of the "Odenwald and Bergstraße".

Our last part of the tour will start around 5 PM. It will take us through a very nice park, which is called the "Fürstenlager in
Bensheim-Auerbach".

Our tour will continue through the wine regions along the Bergstraße. My sister Rita has planned a short stop here in this wine region. Some wine will be offered to everybody, who would like to taste different wines out of this region.

Around 7 PM we will reach our final destination in Bensheim. Together with other families the cars, which were left in Reichenbach in the morning and at the "Auerbacher Schloss" will be picked up and then we will drive together to a very nice Restaurant in Bensheim. We will meet there around 8 PM.

This day will come to an end with a very nice dinner in a beautiful restaurant in the Odenwald

Dinner will at 8 PM

Since families not only come from Germany, they also come from further away like Switzerland, Austria etc, we have checked with some nice guesthouses, hotels and motels, where they can stay overnight, if they want to stay for the whole weekend.

Please make your reservations way early, so there will be enough room for everybody. The dogs are allowed in the rooms also.

Last year most families had the same color of T-Shirts on with the name of the dog printed in the back and the home town from each owner printed in front. We would love to wear T-Shirts like this again. Any copy shop will print T-Shirts like this.

Since the owner of the Restaurants like to know the number of people to expect for lunch, coffee and dinner that day, we have to ask you to let us know no later then the 15th of June 2007, with how many people each family will join us on this trip. Just write a short email to us.

We hope, that many families can join us on that day. I am sure, it will be a special day to remember. Imagine to spend a day in such a beautiful area surrounded by many nice people with their beautiful longhair German Shepherds.
Pictures of our hiking trip from last year can be looked at on
